8/14/2023 - Standup Work
6 AM - Casey:
Rear Body Lock - Offensive Blueprint
Detailed Instructions:
After Live Drill warmup, we will start with Rear Body Lock and focus on some offensive paths that are accessible to all students. Make sure that the class understands the ranking here of positions from lowest order to highest (pin, Hip on mat, turtle, 4 point, rear body lock, standing separated). What is the Top Player trying to do? What does the Bottom Player want to do?
Will focus on the Knee Block Ksoto as the foundational techique that the class must understand first as a simple way to force them from Rear Body Lock to 4-Point. We stress moving from waist control to a chest lock once in 4-Point, as waist control would allow for an easier standup back to Rear Body Lock.
Will then show how a Knee Block Ksoto is blocked fairly easily by a partner who is expecting that technique. Here we chain a Ksoto trip with a Knee Block Ksoto to achieve the desired result. Responding to the first attempt is enough of a distraction to leave them open for the second attempt. The large step he/she makes will put you in position to hit the Knee Block Ksoto.
Will show two ways to break them down to a hip from 4-Point.
Jones foot stomp breakdown
Ksoto hook breakdown (have Sean perform)
Micro Drills:
Rear Body Lock > Knee Block Ksoto > 4-Point
Rear Body Lock > Ksoto > Knee Block Ksoto > 4-Point
